Bespoke Archive Digitisation Ltd, based in London, UK, provides a digitisation service to the Library, Archive, Preservation and Education communities.
We specialise in the highest standard digitisation of cultural heritage media, although we also handle modern collections. Please see our services guide for a full list of the media we can digitise.
We have worked on many small, medium, and large scale projects since 2008, and are rapidly becoming a market leader in quality and trust in the industry. As a result, we work with a variety of prestigious libraries and archives here in the UK and in Europe. As well as digitising your collections, we can advise you throughout the process, from preparation before a digitisation project to subsequent hosting and storage.
Bespoke Archive Digitisation very much believe that the nature of heritage media demands a bespoke approach to fulfil our clients’ needs to the best of our abilities, while ensuring that media is digitised to the highest standards for both preservation and access.
We started in this industry working in museum digitisation environments, and have maintained those principles in our workflows and practices today. From the beginning, we have worked alongside archivists and conservators, and all of our staff continue to be trained by experienced conservators in the handling of rare and fragile historic material.
We use a range of equipment to create perfect digital facsimiles of your collections, and work closely with the world’s top manufacturers to ensure that we have the best solutions at hand for any given collection. Our approach is decided on a case by case basis, as we know that every collection will require different handling techniques and capture methodologies.
Bespoke Archive Digitisation now have digitisation studios in London and Bedfordshire, but we can also work onsite at your location.
Images can be created and provided in a variety of formats and resolutions, with full indexation, of items up to A0+ in size. Printed text can be delivered with associated metadata attached, and can be converted to machine-readable formats if required. Manuscripts can also be transcribed on request.
We hold an ABBYY Finereader Server 14 (previously known as Recognition Server) licence, and can convert text to virtually any format required. Over the years, we have become more and more experienced in the conversion of physical document text to ALTO/XML, and we will be happy to advise you about your OCR needs.
All of our workflows are fully colour-managed throughout the lifecycle of the projects we undertake, and all Bespoke Archive Digitisation equipment is rigorously calibrated to ensure perfection and consistency in our results.
